Ways to get involved
- Become an after-school tutor- Tutors
work one-on-one or in small groups with students, assisting them
with their school lessons. This is perfect for high-school or
college students (you can receive community service hours, of
course), or anyone interested in a career in education. You
don't have to be a professor, something as simple as reading to a
child can make a big difference.
- Teach a Reading Class - Reading is a
fundamental skill in a child's development, reading teachers help
students master comprehension to gain the skills they need for a
successful life.
- Teach Bible Classes - Christian
education lies at the core of His Place's ministry. You can
teach Bible lessons, or character development to young boys or girls
at the center.
- Become a Teacher's Aide - Teachers
aides assist teachers in Bible or reading classes to help manage the
classroom.
- Cook a Meal - Come to His Place to
prepare a nutritious, home-cooked meal for the kids to enjoy.
- Bring your whole church group - A few
churches have brought their entire youth groups, or other groups, to
completely cover a class or VBS program. We would love to have
your church group!
Join a Committee
His Place recently formed several committees to help carry out the
various ministries at the center. We would love to have you join
one where you can best use your talents. Current committees are:
- Building Maintenance and Repair
- Community Outreach
- Education
- Fundraising
- Grant Writing
- Homeless Outreach
- Prayer
- Programming
- Public Relations & Advertising
- Van Maintenance
- Youth Involvement
