Program Descriptions, Fall 2008
Mom's Prayer Group: We and get together to pray over the children, young people and His Place and often have a short Bible Study – along with coffee. This is usually held at one of the mother’s homes or a restaurant.
Writing Class: Young people who are serious about improving their writing skills are invited to attend this class taught by a public school English teacher. Basic writing techniques and relevant topics are used to compliment what they are learning in school. The computer lab will be utilized as well to add another dimension to their learning. (Grade school through High School students are welcome.)
Storytime: (K and first grade) Children will learn to love books as well as learning Christian values as the story lady reads to them from age appropriate books. The goal is to instill a love of books through a positive experience within a setting of love, trust and positive reinforcement.
Reading Clubs: Graded reading groups are reading faith based books to develop reading skills, improved comprehension and a love of reading. The goal is to get the children to come to appreciate reading for it’s own benefits and to see the necessity of such a skill in furthering their education. We currently have four groups divided by age and gender.
God’s Princesses: (elementary aged girls). The girls are learning how special they are as a daughter of the king. They are learning manners, self esteem and how to love others as a part of their royal responsibilities.
Ladies in Waiting: (Jr. and Sr. High girls) Using the biblical story of Esther as a base these young women are being taught how many things in life are worth waiting and working for. Areas of discussion are developing manners, beauty, sexual purity, careers and college.
Gods Warriors: (elementary aged boys) These young men are learning on a very basic level to be responsible young men for God – to respect others, the world and God.
Steel City Knights: (Jr. and Sr. High boys) King Arthur and his Round Table are used to study biblical stories of good examples for Godly living in today’s culture. The boys have developed a code of conduct to try and live up to as they continue to learn even more from the examples Bible “knights."
Night Before Sunday School: Sunday School on a Saturday night. We occasionally bring in speakers to talk to the kids, and have graded classes. There is also time for the kids to hang out, play fooseball, or use the computer lab.
